In researching the concerns and worries of top level marketing
executives recently, I found a wealth of information in slide-decks
posted to the Internet. "Slide decks" is a term used in business, but
commonly known as the PowerPoint presentation.
Key industry executives can be rather elusive when trying to gather
information about a market or industry, but if you are lucky, you can
find their Powerpoint presentations from conference keynote
addresses or other group meetings and presentations posted on the
Internet. Do not skip over these documents when you get your Google
results. A load of information including statistics, lists, strategies,
and sometimes even confidential information can be released.
There are two key sites that you should search for slide deck
information: SlideShare and Docstoc. People use SlideShare to upload
and share PowerPoint, MSWord, PDF documents and professional
videos for free. Users can even add audio, in foreign languages, when
they make a webinars. Docstoc is a community for people to find and
share professional documents, too. You can find more than slide decks
here. Available are free legal documents and free business
documents, too. In fact, take it a step further, and be sure to post
your own slide decks to these sites and generate marketing leads.
One final tip, for Google users in particular, did you know you can
limit your search to Powerpoints? From the Google home page, click
on Advanced Search. Enter your search terms and look down the page
for File type. From here you can select the .ppt format to limit the
search to Powerpoint files. Let me know how it goes.
